When You Change Your Alignment, You Change Your State

When your body’s alignment shifts—say, with thoracic kyphosis (often called a “hunchback”), where the head and shoulders round forward—what message might your nervous system be sending to your brain? How does someone with that posture tend to feel and be perceived? Research suggests posture can meaningfully influence our emotional state. So, by improving your posture, you can also positively affect your emotional well‑being.

It’s also helpful to recognize that your whole body carries information about past experiences. Fascia and other tissues can “hold” patterns—some of which may not yet have been released. These patterns sometimes express themselves as pain, irritation, or a sense of blockage. The body is a doorway inward: you can touch it, shape it, and listen to it.
