Access Your Emotions Through the Body

It’s essential to recognize that sensory receptors in the skin, skeletal muscles, bones, and joints constantly inform the brain about sensation and posture. Every emotion—subtle or intense—comes with distinct bodily expressions. For example, fear often shows up in the chest, while anger tends to express more strongly through the hands, chest, and jaw.

In other words, bodily sensations are processed by the brain and shape our emotional experience. Our body mirrors our emotions. By working with the body—through massage, gentle mobilization, breath, or somatic awareness—you can shift ingrained patterns.

Remember: the body often knows what the mind has not yet realized.
